This November I'm running the New York City Marathon and raising awareness of Down Syndrome in honour of my late Aunty, Cathy Ryan who passed on 6 Sept 2019. Cathy lived an incredible and joyful life despite facing the challenges of living with Down Syndrome, reaching 69 years of age and just days short of her 70th birthday. She was loved and cherished by our family and the entire community of Bendigo where she lived and worked including Calico Country and Woolworths. She was an avid Collingwood Football Club supporter, loved to sing and dance and loved kids! She inspired me to promote awareness and support for disability services that empower and support people with disabilities to live a great life like Cathy, be accepted in our community as equal, and for our society to support and celebrate the achievements of people with Down Syndrome like yours and mine.
Help the ACT Down Syndrome Association raise much needed funds to continue supporting the local community and I'll do my very best to run a PB for Cathy!

Thanks everyone for your amazing support! My goal was achieved, I ran an 8min PB for Cathy finishing in 2:47:34. Lots of fun and didn’t hurt as much knowing how much support was behind me. I made a slideshow of the race and buildup:

Thanks everyone for the support so far! Cathy would be proud. $1500 raised with your generous support and I’m hoping we can hit $2k. Less than three weeks to go until the marathon now and I’m focused on achieving this big goal - a PB for Cathy in NYC!
