The ACT Down Syndrome Association
The ACT Down Syndrome Association is a self-help organisation formed in 1987 by a group of interested parents. The aims of the Association are to provide support and information to families with a member who has Down syndrome; to promote improvements in the quality of life and to stimulate awareness within the wider community, of the very real abilities and needs of people with Down syndrome.
The Association receives no government funding and is dependent upon the support of community and business groups and individuals, supplemented by fundraising activities.
- information, support and encouragement to new parents and promote valuable network development with other parents of children with Down syndrome
- resources, workshops and training for education and health professionals and our members
- regular member newsletters and social activities and events
ACTDSA is a proud member of Down Syndrome Australia, a federation of eight State and Territory associations, that together represent and progress the needs, interests and aspirations of people with Down syndrome and those who support them.
